BKP began on January 14, 1975 and remains to this day committed and dedicated to the task of providing a sound, professional service to the citizens of our district.  We believe that all people have the right to prompt, efficient, courteous, and appropriate emergency medical service.  Initially, BKP was an all-volunteer district, and remained so for many years.  Eventually, it was recognized that BKP needed to evolve.  On July 1, 2003, BKP became a full-time department, employing 3 full time Paramedics, a full time Operations Manager, and 31-part time EMTs. BKP began service with two Cadillac hearse ambulances.  Over time, BKP added more vehicles and equipment, eventually serving our community with four ALS ambulances.  In 2001, BKP constructed and moved into a new facility, located across the street from the converted gas station we started in.

The BKP Ambulance district is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of one representative from each of the townships we serve (Buck, Cessna, Dudley, Goshen, Lynn and Pleasant Townships), as well as the city of Kenton.  Day to day operations are overseen by 3 Operations Supervisors. The District also employs 2 office personnel.
